Keeping a close relationship with your child

Parents: when your child was a few years old, you would sit on the floor and get out the Legos. You both would focus on one thing, building the coolest castle ever......together! That hour or so, there weren't any phones in your hands, there weren't any TV's or screens playing an enticing show, sucking you into it's depths. It was just you, your kid and those cool little building blocks. The both of you concentrating, problem solving, strategically maneuvering around and collaborating with each other to finalize your awesome project! When it was finally done, you would look at each other with smiles on your faces, maybe play with your amazing creation for a while, and be proud of yourselves and each other for your efforts, concentration and dedication. It may not be the best masterpiece that was ever created, but it was good enough for both of you, and you both loved it!

Now that your child is older, maybe a pre-teen or even a teenager, when was the last time you took time out of your day to spend together doing something like this? Is it that the world got busier, the older they got? Is it that there aren't any fun things left for you to do with a teenager? I don't think so. I think that we as parents just get so busy in the day to day, that time flies by and we realize a little too late that they're growing too fast. That little lego loving kid is now a 13 year old with a phone, social media, and so many friends they can't keep up with all the group texts they're in!

Keeping a close relationship with your child is important, we all know that. Some people just don't know how to do it. One of the most effective ways of keeping any relationship healthy is through positive bonding experiences, experiences where you work together to create something you're both proud of! This brings me to my intentions. I intend to (someday soon) open up a studio, where people can go to connect and enjoy each others company. Sometimes we need a space, where we can go to unwind, meet up with friends or bring family members, and just have fun! As I'm building this business, I invite your opinions and feedback! So starting with this question: What are some activities you would like to see offered and would enjoy doing with your favorite family member? Comment below! I appreciate any and all feedback and look forward to reading your comments!
